Problems & Solutions!?

Visual Experiment III is somewhat the direction that I want to continue with but there are still problems and confusions that need to be fixed.

Recipe (noun): a set of instructions telling you how to prepare and cook a particular food, including a list of what foods are needed for this — Cambridge Dictionary

Recipe (noun): a formula or procedure for doing or attaining something — Merriam Webster

I have used the word ‘recipe’ quite often to explain my work but many people seemed to be confused by it as my work is not an actual recipe that if you follow it, you would end up with a meal. However, the term recipe can also be referred to as an instruction for achieving something as well. Thus, I would like my work to illustrate a how-to that is constructed in the form of recipes in a cookbook. The reason for this is that it is a sarcastic parody of a cookbook because a cookbook is generally used for anyone who wants to be able to cook a great meal. In a similar but yet different approach, my book would be for any women who wants to fit the ideal type that the world has pressured them to be.

Another problem is that normally the title or the name of the recipe will immediately tell the reader the outcome of the recipe but my title for the recipe does not really tell anything. However, I did not want to change the way I name the title. I wanted it to have some mysterious feeling in it as well as for the reader to think what the recipe might be about. Therefore, I would put the description under the title for clearer information for the reader to read.

I have created the outline for the book and decided on the size. I want the book to be quite small to be easily portable because the book will include many aspects in life which are household works, professional life and lifestyle. Therefore, I think this book should be able to be brought along everywhere without taking too much effort.

For the next steps, I will continue to design more layout possibly with multi photos page or chapter break etc. I will also come up with the mood and tone for my book to be able to design all the visual elements — colour scheme, typo and any pattern or icon. The recipes are still needed to be developed and improved and I also have to come up with some more recipes to be able to create a book.
